Houston Buddhist Vihara located in Houston, Texas (USA) was founded in June 1988. Houston Buddhist Vihara Inc., a religious coroporation organized under the Religious Corporation Law in the USA, maintains and promotes it for Buddhist purposes. US Federal Government and State of Texas has approved it as a non-profit religious organization. Houston Buddhist Vihara carries on the Theravada Buddhist tradition founded in Sri Lanka, Thailand, Burma, Laos and Cambodia.
